I am looking for information on the Conrad and Mary Ann Bader family, the Edmund and Mary Zimmerman family and any information on the Nehmer family. The Bader family I have found in Big Rapids on the 1900 census, I've found where they came to the United States October 9, 1876, in Philadelphia, but I can't find them in-between. I am especially interested in the deaths of five of their children which supposedly took place during a diphtheria epidemic in the Big Rapids, Reeds City, Chase area. The family says they were in the Hersey, Reed City, Chase area. Ed and Mary Zimmerman were married and lived their lives in Big Rapids. I know the Nehmer family came to Big Rapids from Sisson/Lilly in the 1890's but before that I know nothing. I don't know when the came to America, where they landed or where they came from. I would appreciate any help anyone has to offer.

Researcher: Lorrie Darrah Griffin

I am researching the above names in Mecosta Co., MI. My great-great-grandfather was Charles M. DARRAH (1831-1903), who came to Big Rapids from Jefferson Co., PA in 1857. He and his younger brother James M. DARRAH were the owners of the Darrah Brothers Milling Company, located where the wastewater treatment facility is now. I have gathered a lot of info on my DARRAHs and wish to find info on the collateral lines of my family. Charles' son, Melvin Eugene "Gene" DARRAH married Nettie Rachel "Doll" TAYLOR on 1 Sep 1890 in Big Rapids. She was a daughter of Edward/Edwin Frank TAYLOR and Mary A. ??. She was born in 1864 in NY and died in 1921 in Big Rapids. Her siblings were Jessie Viola, b 1865; Samuel I., b 1868 and married Mame CASSIDAY; and Margaret Dale, b 1879 and married ?? TICKNOR. I have no other information on these people. Other collateral names include: GORE (Emma, daughter of Daniel GORE and Rheuma BEUS, who married James M. DARRAH in 1874 in Big Rapids); BIEHLER (Elizabeth, daughter of Martin BIEHLER and Elizabeth BADER, who married Wilson E. DARRAH in 1883 in Big Rapids, another son of Charles M. DARRAH); and FREELAND/BLANFORD (Florence DARRAH, daughter of James M. DARRAH and Emma GORE, married Thomas W. FREELAND in 1914 in Big Rapids; their daughter Margaret FREELAND married James BLANFORD in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI and they had one son Thomas BLANFORD). Very interested in communication with anyone who shares these surnames! Happy to exchange info. Hoping to find some "new" cousins! Thank you very much.
